PGP (6.7mb) is the standard ecryption program for e.g. sending and receiving mail. you'll use your public key to encrypt and your secret key to decrypt the e-mail messages. This only works if you have the public key of the receiver and he has your public key. pgp is very powerful, so it's advisable you carefully read the instructions on using it. The plugg-ins work with the several pop mail clients such as Outlook/Outlook Express 5 and Eudora. If you don't have a popmail address, get one at Geocities (slow) or keds and remmber: if you forget your passphrase, there is no way you recover the ecrypted stuff. you can also digitally sign an email (without encryption) so that the receiver knows that it's really from you but you still need his public key. you also can encrypt it with conventional encryption so that anyone who knows the password can decrypt it, but this is not as safe as using the public/private key system
